Haitian Studies I

Foundations of Freedom

Course Summary:
This course introduces students to the powerful legacy of Haiti—the world’s first Black republic—by exploring its geography, language, and revolutionary history. Students will uncover key figures, dates, and events from the Haitian Revolution, learn the story behind the Haitian flag, and gain a deeper sense of cultural identity and national pride. Through interactive lessons, map work, vocabulary drills, and group projects, students will build a strong foundation in Haitian history and culture.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this 2-week course, students will be able to:

✅ Identify and explain the significance of key events and leaders in the Haitian Revolution (e.g., 1791 uprising, Toussaint Louverture, Jean-Jacques Dessalines, Battle of Vertières)
✅ Locate and label Haiti’s 10 departments and major cities on a map
✅ Understand and explain the origin and symbolism of the Haitian flag

Haitian Studies II

Power, Politics & The Present

Course Summary:
Building on the foundation of Haitian Studies I, this course explores Haiti’s modern history from the rise of Papa Doc Duvalier to today’s social and political challenges. Students will examine the forces that have shaped Haiti’s present—from internal leadership struggles and foreign interventions to global trade and natural disasters. Through critical discussion, multimedia exploration, and expanded Kreyòl vocabulary, students will connect the past to the present and gain a deeper understanding of Haiti’s place in the world and the tools needed to imagine its future.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this 2-week course, students will be able to:

✅ Explain major events and leadership transitions from 1957 to present day (Papa Doc, Baby Doc, Aristide, Preval, Martelly, Moïse, and current conditions)
✅ Understand Haiti’s geopolitical importance in the Caribbean and its relationship with the U.S., France, the U.N., and NGOs
✅ Analyze the key factors behind Haiti’s ongoing struggles, including economic debt, corruption, exploitation, natural disasters, and foreign interference
✅ Expand their Kreyòl vocabulary to include terms related to politics, government, resistance, and resilience

Introduction to Artificial Intelligence

Course Summary:
This intensive 2-week course introduces students to the world of Artificial Intelligence through hands-on learning, real-world applications, and a guided path to industry-standard certification. Under the supervision of a qualified instructor, students will complete beginner-level AI and machine learning modules from leading platforms such as IBM, Google, or Microsoft. Students will learn how AI powers tools like ChatGPT, facial recognition, and recommendation engines, while gaining technical skills that prepare them for the future of work and innovation.

Course Summary:
This hands-on 2-week course gives students the tools to turn screen time into a skill set. Under the guidance of a digital marketing coach, students will earn industry-recognized certifications in platforms like Meta (Facebook & Instagram Ads) and learn how to craft, target, and optimize ads that convert. The course includes a real internship placement with a Florida-based business where students will help run actual ad campaigns, then document their experience in a professional portfolio. With a focus on strategy, analytics, and creative content, students will finish the course equipped with case studies, certifications, and clarity on careers in the fast-growing world of digital marketing.

Course Summary:
This inspiring 2-week course empowers students to see themselves as creators, leaders, and legacy builders. Through the stories of the most successful Black entrepreneurs—past and present—students will explore how innovation and resilience have fueled Black excellence in business. They’ll analyze the historical barriers Black entrepreneurs have faced, examine the opportunities available today, and learn the foundational principles of starting and sustaining a business. From idea generation to elevator pitches, this course is designed to help students uncover why entrepreneurship matters, and how they can begin their own journey.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:

✅ Identify and explain the achievements of iconic Black entrepreneurs such as Madam C.J. Walker, Reginald Lewis, Daymond John, and Rihanna
✅ Understand the historical challenges Black business owners have faced, including redlining, lack of access to capital, and systemic discrimination
✅ Explore today’s opportunities for Black entrepreneurs through social media, digital tools, community investment, and global markets
✅ Learn the core principles of entrepreneurship including branding, marketing, budgeting, business models, and pitching
✅ Reflect on their own gifts, passions, and "why" for considering entrepreneurship
✅ Design a simple business concept or pitch deck as a capstone project

Math Mastery

Everyday Essentials for Confident Living

Course Summary:
This practical, hands-on 2-week course equips students with the essential skills every young adult should know—but often aren’t taught in school. Designed for both boys and girls, this course blends independence, responsibility, and real-world confidence. From changing a tire to hemming a garment, from budgeting and cooking to basic bike assembly and home repair, students will walk away ready to take on life with pride and know-how. Each day focuses on a new life domain, with fun projects, practical demos, and take-home guides that empower students to help themselves and others.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:

✅ Perform basic vehicle maintenance like checking oil, changing a tire, and jump-starting a car
✅ Create and follow a personal budget using real-life scenarios
✅ Tie a tie, iron clothes, and hem a garment
✅ Assemble a bike from parts, identify safety checks, and perform minor repairs
✅ Use basic handyman skills including measuring, drilling, using a level, and hanging wall decor
✅ Cook simple meals and bake basic recipes with kitchen safety and cleanup

Pre-Law

Foundations of American Law

Course Summary:
This immersive 2-week course introduces students to the structure, language, and logic of the American legal system. Supervised by a licensed Florida attorney, students will explore key areas of law including Family Law, Criminal Procedure, Landlord-Tenant Law, and Business Law. Through interactive case studies, mock legal scenarios, and guided research, students will also learn the canons of legal construction, how to analyze statutes, and how to think like a lawyer. The course also provides exposure to legal careers, law school paths, and real-world applications of legal knowledge—equipping students with the mindset of a future advocate.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
